You might as well face it, you're addicted to love

Is there anything worth saying about yesterday??

I saw Natalie, Nicola's best friend from her old school, on the bus and she looked brilliant. Dyed black hair, knee high leather boots, a long flowing purplish coat with big turned up cuffs, a small frilly black dress dotted with a flowery pattern, pretty silver and purple rose earrings that dangled over an inch long.

She was going to school. Early, in fact, and I was late, so it was really just 'coincidence' that we met - she was doing an exam. In art. She couldn't have been going to do anything else!

I got to school, and did not have time to grab breakfast as we had over an hour and three quarters of drug awareness. Urgh. Depressing or what? There was a youth worker who told us the different classes of drugs - in a way I had the feeling he was practically announcing to us his tactics for making us listen - telling us his first name, saying 'it's your choice' all the time, that kind of thing. His work sounded good. And then we had Darren E. talking about psychological effects - he showed us a couple of videos and talked about rats with electrodes in their brain. And then we had a rehab woman and a former addict. Did you know that cannabis takes 4-28 days to leave the system?? Well, you do now. Can't remember much else about her - she reckoned she could divide us in half of those who had taken drugs and those who hadn't (she used national statistics for adults of the age of twenty) and that rather put me off, especially as she seemed to imply that she could work out specific individuals who had taken them. The addict was quite interesting; I'd been worried that it would be a case of the intelligent person's freakshow (like documentaries about mentally ill people - it's so often just a case of having a sick fascination rather than any real interest in the people themselves) but he was honest, and I think he earned respect for having the nerve to talk about it. I know he did from me.

After school, I went to GB, as with every Friday night, and Susannah told me that she thinks Matt still fancies me, although if so he gets 0/10 for tact because he started the conversation at tuck by telling me that he's going out with someone. It was suggested that he was doing it to make me jealous, but in truth I want to see him happily going out with someone else... Flattering although it can be, I don't want to have the burden of tension between Matt and any of his girlfriends, and I really hate football, thus he won't enjoy conversation with me very soon. Because he's bound to realise that vague smiling and blank looks are not the witty replies of the stunning conversationalist... But I can't talk! What really made me jealous was David doing a 'double-act' with head girl Ella at the Open Day (they both made speeches - I wasn't there). And during the Rock 'n' Roll concert, but I never recorded the prefects' act in my diary, I wrote the Theories entry instead. I now can't remember what the prefects did... Ah, crushes. Who invented them? Because all they seem to cause is trouble. Couple of helpful links: ABC on courtship, and Jesus Freak on God's plan for your mate.

Aunty Hazel came to assess us! We were doing a games badge for physical, and she said we were good team players and I showed 'initiative'. Probably because of my remark when I lost the bucket game in the extreme - "But I thought you had to get the most bean bags in the basket!" Hazel found that rather funny. And I started writing a drama on the temptation of Jesus for the spiritual section. It's going to be rather expressionistic. Lara is begging to be the Devil if we ever perform it. Everyone likes the bad guys, but surely that is going too far? :-) Oh well...
