La la la, I want another job...
Friday, Aug. 02, 2002 - 21:44

Arg, I wrote an entry yesterday but it vanished :(

OK, at the moment I hate my job. Because I'm still not fully trained, and because today I had to grovel for something that wasn't my fault, but that I happened to be the lucky one collect the buck that a whole chain of people passed onwards with ease.

Things I learned today:

How to become popular in one easy lesson -

- bring down the Appletiser from the stash in the fridge upstairs to the thirsty workforce. Unfortunately this requires the workplace to have a stash of Appletiser that it got for free because they fell off a lorry, but still... :)

How to lift the mood of a tired girl who's been at work for five hours -

- have a fight with the washing up bubbles.

Adgie told off Gentian, who started it... Shame because it really cheered me up.

Elementary Physics -

- If a tub taller than it is wide is kicked from the top, it will fall over. If it has a loose fitting lid and lettuce and water inside, it will spill lettuce and water all over the floor. If the manager sees it, she will tell you off. And if you've been working since midday and it's eight o'clock, you'd better hold your tongue.

It was an accident. I meant to kick it from the bottom so it would slide along the floor. Adgie got annoyed and as I thought she went out of earshot, I muttered, 'Oh excuse me'. And nearly added, 'Like you've never had an accident'. Thankfully I didn't, because she heard me.

Not very restrained, huh? But compared to what I'd been planning on saying to her, after she'd told me to do something she could see I was already doing, it was fairly tame. I'd been planning on yelling, 'Leave me alone for once... and you can stick your job, I'm going!'

So thankfully, I didn't quit, and I still have the nice memories of getting loads of people rushing in once they heard I'd grabbed the Appletiser, and fighting with bubbles... So I don't really hate my job.

Kerry started singing 'Helen and Gentian sitting in a tree...' How bizarre :)

Oh, and James appears to have a girlfriend. They already have a song, and it's Next 100 years by Bon Jovi. Dammit, I liked that song...
