Assembly report...
Monday, Sept. 24, 2001 - 14:45 Ick ick ick. I hab a cold. By dose is all bugged up... unless I eat Lockets or other lozenges. Lozenge - that's such a weird word. Last night - well, what can I say? I really enjoyed the worship (I was just in the mood to do a Matt Redman run-around-the-car-park-with-no-shoes-on, but that would have been plagiarism :-) ), although I must confess the sermon didn't really sink in. Alison, our minister's wife, prayed over all the young people, and for no apparent reason whatsoever mentioned our school by name (and no others!). Ah hah, methinks, Chris told her about the assembly. The amusing thing is, as Alison said that, unbeknown to me Christina was attempting to catch my eye to find out if I'd told her! No-one had!! Afterwards, Chris, James and I went up for prayer (Lucy and Duck don't go to our church) and we told them how we'd all had a bad weekend, feeling attacked. We met up with Lucy and Duck (I'll probably call him Flash for the rest of this entry...) and wandered up to Afterchurch, although Chris and Lucy made a quick agreement and Lucy soon left as she was cold-ish and tired. The rest of us went to Joan and Arthur's where we generally meet up with the rest of the yoof groop. We mostly just chatted but in the last ten minutes the four of us went off to pray... It was so comforting! And several people promised to pray for the assembly, too. This morning I got up at 6:10am to the sweet tones of a song probably by Audio Adrenaline but I can't be sure as Chris recorded the tape for me... never mind. I'll have to find the lyrics. I left the house at 6:55!! Although I also managed to get to school 20 minutes before the time we'd agreed... We met up in the hall, prayed for Chris and Lucy who be doing it, prayed for the people listening, and then went off to arrange things and register. Mrs. P, a careers/Geography teacher who vaguely scares me and also likes me 'to be flippant as everyone's so serious' (years spent making fun of teachers and this is the first time anyone says thank you!) ended up doing our registration as no-one else was, so I was not as eager to get out as I could have been... she's scary, I tell you! Then I went down to see people filing in, so I went to the stage (hidden by a curtain... Chris and Lucy were doing it from the lectern) to see Flash and James, so we could pray throughout. It went much quicker than I realised! But it went really well. Lucy was so hyper! We've just got to rely on God to follow our plans through... because he's the boss! I'd actually rather assumed I would be one of the ones speaking, but I'm really glad I was one of the praying ones, it's so good to do! Thanks to anyone who prayed! :-) Sorry if this isn't very deep, the cold you understand :-) I hate being ill. Bet it's all Steve's fault. :-) (He thinks you can't get immune to viruses... yeeees... ever heard of a 'flu jab? a polio vaccination? *sigh*) Random word for today: << last entry ... next entry >> Interesting doughnuts - Sunday, Feb. 05, 2006 Blogging, why? - Friday, Feb. 03, 2006 Dreams, climate change - Friday, Feb. 03, 2006 In the shadows - Sunday, Jan. 29, 2006 |
