Unwashed mugs and cauliflower cheese
Thursday, Nov. 28, 2002 - 17:47

Note to parents - I did not sleep through Energetics this morning. Actually I went and it wasn't too boring. Unlike this afternoon's lecture, which despite being about a very interesting topic - mutations and DNA repair - was mindnumbing... *sigh*.

It's funny, when I got back to my room after my last diary entry, I found a note on my door from a girl on my corridor, reading 'If you're going to use my mug without asking, at least wash it up afterwards' or something along those lines. Oops. Normally I wouldn't even think of committing such a crime (one day I'll share with you the level of corridor crime that we students can get up to!) but... I'd just... forgotten. Using someone's mug when they're not around is not such a major offence, but leaving it unwashed is downright impolite. The funny thing was, at that moment a little part of me realised it was an opportunity to put my faith in action. Now don't bash me with your Bibles ;) I know that the best opportunity would be by not doing that sort of thing ever and being genuinely amazing and considerate all the time. Instead I had just adequately demonstrated that I'm not perfect and had to therefore demonstrate some Christian humility. Ouch.

Matthew's off on the campaign. He's standing for his JCR Committee, he's into very intensive campaigning for elections (not just a couple of posters in the bar) and this evening as I was making cauliflower cheese he was getting stressed because he thought he would lose the election because he hadn't gone round getting everyone to vote. I practically had to force him to go do it, he's not averse to the concept of reheated cauliflower cheese (eeeeew), and can you imagine the tension if he lost and thought it was because he ate my cauliflower cheese instead of reminding people to vote?
