Humanitarian crisis
Monday, Oct. 08, 2001 - 19:04 War... it's all so surreal. What's real to me is that the people in Afghanistan are starving. News like this makes me very angry indeed. I was reading New Scientist in the Library today - there was an article on 'Afghanistan's humanitarian crisis.' Because of the war, only a tiny amount of aid can get through... This really tears me up. A few dogmatic terrorists decide that killing thousands of people is the best course of action... they allow thousands of their own to die too. That's the logic of evil. It's so far from the heroic war the tabloids are telling us all about. It's a nasty deadlock... horrible... I am glad our leaders are dealing with it how they are, but I hope it is over soon. The Sun (Rory buys it!!) keeps referring to Britain and America as 'the Allies' giving shades of World War II... Simple. The Afghans are the bad guys, we are the good guys... I liked what Bush said about being the friends of the people of Afghanistan but enemies of terror. I'm going to pray that God changes the hearts of those in the Taliban... Evil like this cannot be tolerated.
