Dickens festival
2001-06-03 - 16:14 I've spent a looong time surfing the Christian diaryring. The only annoying thing is, some people haven't put label thingy in so I had to go back to the list to see who was next. Argh. But I found several cool diaries which particularly caught my fancy. Yesterday I went to the Dickens festival. I went with Abi and met all the goths/punks/sweaties again. Sara and Lana came up eventually too. I didn't call Ricci beforehand but I wish I had because to be honest I didn't have the greatest time with the others. It mainly involved sitting in the castle gardens watching Abi burn things and listening to Anti-Chav discussion. The funniest thing that happened was when we started inhaling helium from the Kent Messenger balloons and squeaking. We sounded like utter idiots :-). I drank some of Sara's cider (Decided not to get drunk this time. Hmm!) and when I went home I felt a bit depressed because I didn't feel like a light for Jesus - just another so-called non-conformist in the group. I didn't feel too great anyway because Mum and I had a row, one of those where we fed off each other's stress. Although the slightly amusing thing is, she told me I didn't know the meaning of the word stress, and I've done physiological psychology, and I can fairly confidently say I do know the meaning of the word stress, and I could even take you through the stress response. Of course, I didn't bother telling Mum this. We hugged and made up, though, which was nice. I know Jesus doesn't mind me hanging around with Abi and Sara's friends but he wants me set apart and I didn't feel like that!! I got in, ate food, and the parents went out, so I called Ricci to say sorry for not calling him before and told him about what I did that day. He, to my surprise, seemed to know every detail of the love situation where Chelle is going out with James (don't ask me which one, I have no idea, could be anyone) and Ellie is going out with Chelle's ex Dave and so on. Then I watched a very cute film (or something - might have been the last in the series) called Love or Money on the television; although the ending was a little predictable, it was very well done, and had me screaming at the television for a bit... Sad, huh? But I had Braithwaite-itis, 'cause the woman did exactly was I told her to!! :-) And the last scene was adorable. It was about a couple who were married through a gameshow - they'd win a million pounds if they stuck it out and could answer all the questions right about each other on the last show. The woman was an unmarried mum whose ex had abandoned her with child, because the ex was married! The man was a cute Scottish bloke who'd left his girlfriend. OK, so not quite Christian ethics so far, but shall we just say that the marriage was a success :-) It was very sweet, and a nice surprise as I usually watch rubbish on television.
