I've sent this letter hoping it will reach your hand
Tuesday, May. 14, 2002 - 11:34

OK, my buddylist has gone neurotic on me.

But no matter! I just finally finished an English essay on 'Impertinent Voices - A Woman's Struggle' - on Oranges are not the only fruit and The Color Purple. I think I concluded it pretty well for once.

The Year 12s go on Study Leave at the end of this week. For me, that's sort of symbolic, even though I probably will see all my Year 12 friends again at Neil's party. Who out of my close friends does that leave at school? Christina and Abi. Sara's already left (*sad face*) and the rest will be going with on Friday.

I'll bring my camera, grab an autograph book. This would usually be left until our last day, but this year our last day is after theirs. (Last year, Year 13 went on Study Leave before us, Dr. C reckons the school just don't like our year group). What else can I do? Not much.

I just spent ages searching for an Emerson, Lake and Palmer lyric. I didn't even know what the song was called, so it was quite a search. Anyway, it's a song Clive plays constantly. He's probably reading this with a smug grin on his face. Turns out it's called 'Trilogy'.

Christina and I are compiling the ultimate quote anthology. My personal favourite is still 'Picasso had a pubic... a cubic stage. Not a Freudian slip.' - Mrs. H.

And there are other things I want to talk about. Think about. But I can't do them here. The trouble with being openly yourself is that then you have to keep yourself inside some of the time. Anonymity is a powerful mask. It's a lot easier to pass letters from behind a locked door than to talk face to face.

And so I may retire again to the world of fiction. Where it doesn't matter what you say because it's all made up. Of course it is.

I must leave in a while and though I smile
You know the smile is only there to hide
What I'm really feeling deep inside
Just a face where I can hang my pride

-Emerson, Lake and Palmer - Trilogy
