Busy day, football, and Frank
Saturday, Jun. 22, 2002 - 22:39

Argh, I have had the busiest day. I didn't get a break at work :( because there was no-one doing break cover - I was on the door and Amy was clearing and setting, then she went home at nine and I had to do both. It was not too bad because it's generally much quieter after nine but it was still irritating. I had a massive queue for quite a while. I actually felt quite accomplished when at last I could send them to their seats.

I'm soo achy... someone send some good vibes over here :)

I owe loads of people e-mails, as usual!!! (Speaking of which, thank you Keith for your guestbook signing! Also thanks to Sarah Joy if I haven't thanked you yet :) I agree :) )

But, I only have one more exam left. I meant to post an entry yesterday but didn't have anything interesting to say at the time.

Well, England are out of the World Cup. I watched 5 minutes of the match, and considering I had an exam that morning that was pretty good for me, I feel. At school the students were allowed to come in at 10:30! Or they could come in early and watch the match in the hall. I didn't find out we had lost until 12:00 when my exam finished. Rubic Cube Guy (our deputy head) told us before we all filed out. I thought we had won because at 10:30 I heard the distinct roar of IN-GER-LER-UND (that's football speak for England, thanks to Chris for that one :) ) but we hadn't.

I went around Grandad's and he gave me a commentary on the second half... er, thanks.

Football can really only hold my attention for five minutes. At the end of England-Denmark it took me five minutes to go from vaguely pleased to very very very bored of 'Three Lions' etc. Yesterday I don't even think I held out for five minutes before I stopped caring that England were out. (My great-grandma, by contrast, watched the match and seemed quite put out that the Brazilians won...) After dinner Stephen went on about how much he hated football for so long he became more boring than football. He complained that it's being pushed through the television, radio, newspapers, like trying to convert him to some sort of religion.

It is a religion. I mean, yes folks, I know not everybody follows football like a religion, and as a hobby and to enjoy watching it is OK. BUT WHAT IS ALL THE FUSS ABOUT? A bunch of men running around a field kicking a ball? I'd rather follow the great pink frog.

(Also, notice no one ever follows the women's world cup?)

I did an excellent reverse bay park today. Although I also did two awful ones. One of them wasn't my fault though :)

Hmm... what else? My plant from Eden has grown. It now needs a much bigger pot because currently it's only upright because it's tied to a pencil. Its name is Frank. Short for Francis or Frances, plants are androgynous so it doesn't matter :) I'll have to get a picture of it so maybe any plant experts could tell me what Frank is and whether he/she should be outside. Clive doesn't want him/her to be a sunflower, but actually I'd be quite pleased... Although the seed was white, not black and white, but it was roughly the right size.

Now that my plant has a name I want to call it him or her... seems only right somehow :) I think he/she's going to grow fairly tall, so he/she will probably be better outside.

Time to use my ancient Sparklit account

My plant

Should Frank (Francis/Frances) the plant be called him or her?
