I got the bluuues.... I got the Fresher Blues...
Friday, Oct. 11, 2002 - 20:00

(Yes, I am going to insist on using the word Fresher in titles until Fresher's week is over. Actually it's technically Fresher's Fortnight. Mwahahaha.)

It's eight o'clock! And for the first time this week, I'm not socialising this evening. There's late prayer at church later but other than that, it's just me and you guys. Don't you feel privileged?

Mum called today. Damn I miss my parents. Our college is putting on a meal this evening, but I couldn't get a ticket, so here I am. I'd go hang around with the guys from the downstairs corridor, or find someone else I know, or the Fusion peeps maybe - most of them aren't in my college. However, I know this sounds lame but I'm really tired of hanging around with people I don't really know. I like them but suddenly I'm so lonely. Chloe, Lucy, Clare and Emily on my corridor all seem to get on terribly well. I guess it was partly my fault that I'm not so much part of things because the other night they were staying in for pizza but I ended up going out to meet the Christians I met online. I want to get to know some good Christian friends too, but I still wish a bit that I'd stayed behind, they were getting all sleepover-ish. I like Mim, our STYC, who is a Christian, but she somehow feels so much older than me. I guess because she's much more at ease now. I like Jayne, Catherine and Sarah, not to mention the amazing Socialist Shiv (short for Siobhan), in the next corridor. Jayne's doing Biochemistry too and Catherine and Sarah are doing Biology, so we share a lot of lectures. Shiv does history.

Bleh. I'm having trouble accessing my university mail from these computers. It worked fine in the Biology department today.

Last night we went out for cocktails then a trip to a cheesy nightclub. Although not all the music was cheesy, there was some good live stuff but I heard Chesney Hawkes twice that evening in other places. (Who? you ask. Don't you remember 'The One and Only'?) York is capital of cheesy music.

*snip* - I deleted some stuff from the end of this entry. Sorry.

Random word for today: isolated
