Reading Genesis

My feet ache.

I know it's been such a while since I last wrote. Comparatively. I'm now back home and working at my new job. It's pretty good, the pay is better than the old job and it's more interesting. The only problem is the standing around. There are so few opportunities to sit down that it gets very frustrating having such achy feet.

I started reading Genesis. (I want to read the entire Bible by the end of the summer, it's one of my goals). It made me wonder why there are so many people trying to prove it's all absolutely true, because when the good guy appears to be a homicidal maniac, I really think this is something God's PR would be sweeping under the carpet. I haven't finished reading it yet, but it does seem... strange. Sorry if I'm being overly negative on anyone here, but that's the way it seems. Noah's Ark, Sodom and Gomorrah (give him the credit with this one, he let the good man escape and promised to spare it for ten righteous people. Somehow I can't shake the feeling when reading it that God apparently was especially troubled by them being gay). God punishing people for the way they treated Sarah (Abraham's wife)... but they didn't know she was his wife, they thought she was his sister. There was a definite high-point where the angel talked to Hagar, who was basically a pawn, and promised that her son would be the father of nations. And I have a nice image of the angels forcibly tearing Lot and his family from Sodom - "It's all for your own good, you know!"

Well, anyway, I shall be reading on.

Random word for today: tautology
