Hallowe'en thoughts
Thursday, Nov. 01, 2001 - 18:50 Hello my darlings! MY UCAS FORM IS IN!!! YAY!! Sorry. The UCAS form is the form you apply for university with - exam grades, personal statement, reference. It took me one day to do and four days to complete. *sigh*. Why are the last minutes always longer than the rest?? Well... my life. I told you about Invasion yesterday... go look... other than that - well, I had a bit of a rubbish Hallowe'en - I heard Blue Planet were playing, I heard that Youth Group were going to see Kyle Horner etc. at Canterbury Cathedral, and out school's production of Oh, What a lovely war ran its first night. Guess which is these I went to? None!!! Poot. Instead I watched all the little fiends and witches and vampires wander around town as I went home on the bus after CU. Hallowe'en - well, I read Dreamer4eva's diary entry on Hallowe'en (everyone misses out the apostrophe!! :-) It's Hallow's even, All Saint's Eve!). And at church the preacher ended the evening with a warning on Hallowe'en. What can I say? Using the day to celebrate witchcraft/spirits etc., playing with Tarot and Ouija boards - I disagree with that. Wholeheartedly - spiritual needs are satisfied by God alone. I believe that God is the only one who can bring spiritual fulfilment, and any of the other ways are at best pointless, and at worst, harmful. Grr... I don't want to sound preachy! But God loves us very much, and he'll give us what we need if we ask him. So there's no point going elsewhere. On the other hand... well, I love Harry Potter :-). And I kinda like the idea of having a day dedicated simply to having fun (if only it were simple!). It'd be nice to have fancy dress parties and people handing out sweets to kids, and playing amusing games every now and again. But the other stuff? Well. I was planning on writing something on why good is fun. Because it is. Why do we have to dress up as demons and witches on the most fun day of the year?
