An inventory of my desk
2001-05-24 - 21:16

Douglas Adams Fans, check this out. Hmm, I ought to be doing work. Never mind, eh? I did a theory test thing that Phil gave me, but the CD kept crashing my computer. Damn.

Took a quick peek at Pischina's Diary today. Don't usually read it; she has too many fans and I'm a non-conformist :-) Actually, I'm just insanely jealous. There, that's that little confession out.

She wrote a list of things on her desk to be revealing, I guess. It was quite funny.)Wanna hear what's on my desk?

OK, computer, mousemat, mouse. Chinese calligraphy picture (dragon, phoenix, bird and heart symbols for power, nobility, happiness and love, alledgedly. Present from Grandma this Christmas. Very Pretty.) Empty glass (that will move). Watch. Burgundy hairband, two pound coins, a penny, a twopence piece, assorted earrings. Four pencils, a pencil sharpener, a 6 inch plastic ruler. Jewellery box, plastic toy VW Beetle (from Abi, birthday a while back), two nail varnishes (from Sara, last birthday), navy hairband, purse, Bible, CD in plastic bag (Phil's), psychology book. Pile of paper, most of which I can't identify. 2 pairs of tweezers (forceps, sorry), my Grandma's engagement ring (another present, my favourite ring). Nail clippers. Manicure kit without nail clippers, tweezers, file, cuticle thingy... in fact it only contains nail scissors. Which means that my file is probably on this desk somewhere. My yellow hardback thoughts & poetry book. A highway code, a dragon glove puppet, a kazoo, a tax form (that reminds me...), several steel bangles, a couple of Nicky's Point Horrors, Jean-Paul Sartre's Age of Reason, some mobile phone magazine thing, How to do your Homework in Ten Seconds Flat (I love that book), sunglasses, chemistry equipment stencil (completely unused). Memo case (prize for winning a psychology quiz). Stuart Little Calender which I do not use. World book day book. Beth Redman's Soul Sista (present from Chris).Borrowed books, namely Foundation series (the only Isaac Asimov that has failed to absorb me). Jeanette Winterson's Sexing the Cherry (good but very weird and not for children. I'm probably going to take it back to its owner without finishing it) Roger Zelazy's Chronicles of Amber (I will finish it... roll on the Summer). Principles of inorganic and theoretical chemistry (It's Clive's). A Mr. Happy Organiser (how ironic), the Dreadful Diary.

Next shelf! A weird electronic organiser thingummy, my shell bos with the seed beads in, a tea light holder, a box of tea lights, Bubblegum stickers with my name on, smiley stress ball, blue sunglasses (totally useless for blocking sun). Photo of me. A couple of bus timetables, Monty Python's And now for something completely different on video, Quidditch through the ages, Fantastic beasts and where to find them, Volunteer leaflets, twelve CDs - no, thirteen, but that's a single. Tapes - Manic Street Preachers, Generation Terrorists recorded for me by Chelle, and another tape. I haven't a clue what that one is. Hold on, I'll just stop my music player and have a listen. Oh, Now 39, I recorded it from Natalie, Nicola's best friend from SJF ages ago. I don't listen to it very much. Note from Nicky from a few days ago.

Shelf on top of computer!

Oil burner, teddy, bunny (once belonged to Mrs. Gallagher, French teacher, counsellor, and in her own words 'not a lady who stands on street corners'. She auctioned it off during charity week and I paid £4.90 for it, more than I paid to fight David in the pillowfight. Framed photo of me and Sally, different framed photo of Dylan, my favourite of Sara's cats. It's on top of the feet of the bunny that belonged to Mrs. Gallagher.

Top shelf! Cute little hedgehog model, stereo, cuddly dog given to me by Sally.

Does the sheer volume overwhelm you as much as it overwhelms me? Because I'm realising that I'm better revise that statement I made to Clive (I think, it was so long ago) about keeping my desk clear. I didn't even mention the drawer, but most of that stuff's private. Congratulations, you now know what is on my desk. (This is about my sixth time of editing. I'm fed up. I mispelled and completely mucked up my html. Urgh.)
