Obladi, Oblada, Life goes on...
Thursday, Jul. 25, 2002 - 15:03 Hey folks... Thank you all for the lovely good luck wishes and prayers etc. for my driving test :) I didn't pass :( But on the bright side - it wasn't dangerous, I remembered my observations, my driving is much better, I had enough nerve to correct my awful reverse-around-a-corner (it was a little bit wide but not too awful), my bay park wasn't parallel but I did get it in, without Carolyn's help! and the guy taking my test goes to my church! So although we hadn't spoken before, I felt much more at ease than I might have done. I had sixteen minors (you're only allowed fifteen), mainly needing more confidence and not at all helped by nerves. The other failing point was that I stalled (Carolyn has a new clutch which is much more 'sensitive' than her last one) and when I went to correct it and move on, I didn't take the handbrake off. I've never done that before. But oh well... I did cry afterwards (as I knew I would! heh) but only a few sniffles, I'm not really that sad about it. Carolyn promised after my disastrous mock test that if I didn't pass my test this week, she'd pay for the next one. She's so nice. :) Heh... Yesterday she said I had the concentration span of an ant. (you'd be amazed at our sarcasm battles, honestly) Phil (her husband and my former driving instructor) told her she was a 'callous thoughtless cow' for that... :) She said it to motivate me to prove her wrong, and it did actually work. She told Phil that she wanted me to hate her, and Phil said, 'I don't think Helen's capable of hating anyone.' Aww... *smile* I hope that's true... Anyways, I'll hopefully be less nervous in the next test, and hopefully Carolyn's clutch will have worn in a bit. She told me, 'All the best people pass second time.' She passed second time. :) Alice, I agree, I had no problem with burly truck drivers :). Jim, thank you very much for your guestbook message :) Teachers generally tell me the system is the problem! Ah well, we shall see. I still have a biochemistry degree to get through before the great PGCE. Hmm... I hope the examiner didn't hear me swear when he told me I didn't pass :) Random word for today: << last entry ... next entry >> Interesting doughnuts - Sunday, Feb. 05, 2006 Blogging, why? - Friday, Feb. 03, 2006 Dreams, climate change - Friday, Feb. 03, 2006 In the shadows - Sunday, Jan. 29, 2006 |
