Lecturing fun...
Thursday, Oct. 17, 2002 - 15:35

Whoo! Another rushed entry!

Had a good night last night. I went to the bar with Catherine, Shiv, Sarah and Andy (from downstairs). They're all from the next corridor but I'm not too fussed (my corridor were mainly busy watching the football). They're pretty cool. Suddenly realised I've practically changed timezone when I called Clive thinking it was 'not too late' at 11:20. He goes to bed at about 10 usually. *smiles* But he actually wanted to talk to me...

I've been to the Creative Writing group and Douglas Adams Society, had fun in both even though in DougSoc I didn't really like the Pan Galactic Gargle Blasters, not to mention I was sitting next to a very scary person who always wears a suit, and is totally eccentric. I made a friend called Sian. 'I'm a second year but I have no friends!' was how Sian introduced herself... So I volunteered. She's cool :)

Seems like I've been here forever, but I haven't even been here a fortnight. Still wish I had close friends here but I'll live with it.

Our lecturers are all highly interesting. Our Acids, Bases and Hydrogens lecturer is hilarious (he taught us how to explode toilets), and our structure and bonding lecturer is Russian with a strong accent, and likes to throw Kit Kats to people who get answers right. Good for this morning since I hadn't had much breakfast...

Another lecturer burst some balloons and a blown-up condom on Tuesday. He assured us that he doesn't usually burst them. Today he told us he'd used all his condoms up. Then he hastily added, 'That is... I burst them all. No, I didn't burst them...' Aw, he's embarrassed, that'll teach him for using condoms during demonstrations.

On Tuesday another lecturer told us 'Take a block of wood and put a piece of velvet on it' (She did so, and held it up). 'Here we have a block of wood with a piece of velvet on it.' Well done, that woman.

I bought some books today, but considering I decided to do Biochemistry because it's interesting, I'm consoling myself that I spent the £110 on my hobby...

Also my arms still ache from carrying my shopping from the supermarket. But that did mean I got to have spaghetti bolognese today.

Gotta go... tutorial.

Random word for today: Amphipathic
