A not-so-good exam and some left-wing banter
2001-06-06 - 17:45

Word of advice. Revision is good. That's fairly obvious. And... well, what can I say? Best also to consider balance.

After yesterday's relative relief of a biology paper after my helluvalotta revision, we have psychology.

I'm feeling very silly indeed.

I also felt bad 'cause yesterday for me slightly over-doing the internet again, I didn't have my quiet time.

(Jargon explanation - 'quiet time': time spent in awesome and intimate communion with the creator of the universe. Anyone want to re-write the Christian dictionary? 'Cause I do. Quiet time!!)

I set my alarm for an hour later and had a rather sleepy one anyway. Wanted to chat with Dad, properly. But I'm still feeling like a complete idiot! Still, I should get a C at least, and that would be OK.

Thanks to Indigo for signing my guestbook :-) and thank you Nicky for appreciating my poem :-) Cheered me up.

Today hasn't really been the greatest of days. For one thing, I had period pains, not bad ones (and I know what bad ones feel like!) but bad enough to distract me. Couldn't decide whether to go to school straight away or stay at home and study. I'd have to carry a heavy bag (my psychology book is HUGE) if I went earlier, to revise at school, but I reasoned that I wasn't going to do much at home with the pains, so I went and hoped the painkillers would kick in whilst I was on the bus (and doing nothing).

I knew there was a reason why I rarely do proper last minute revision, that is, the actual proper work instead of just a last minute staring over your notes.

It's because nerves make it practically impossible.

Abi came and we discussed The Socialist Alliance. She had a leaflet of theirs and she was going through their election manifesto. They want to cancel Third World Debt, tax the rich more, de-privatise the railways, end homelessness and raise minimum wage, as well as protecting asylum seekers, ending discrimination and protecting civil rights and trade unions. They also want to have MPs with working wages as opposed to huge salaries.

I now seriously wish I could vote. I got 'The Red Flag' in my head, and now I'm offically a socialist. I know lots of people argue tht it's no good voting for minority parties as they never get in, but that's illogical - it's like saying that there's no point giving a pound to charity because it won't buy very much. Of course it won't on its own, but this is a democracy and we are the ones who put the politicians in power. Therefore, if we all vote for what is right, we'll get what is right. Or what is left :-).

There's a poster that I keep seeing on bus stops. It says, 'Someone could die before the next bus arrives.' Some people really do have a pessimistic view of the world!

I'm off for an inappropriately-named quiet time. There's a few things on my mind. But God's in charge :-)
