Describing myself with a bit of poetic licence
2001-08-15 - 20:31

Hmm, interesting. Just read this on Heather's (Hardrain's) diary.

So I want to do it too!

Lyrical Questionnaire

**Fill this out using only song lyrics or quotes.**

Who are you?

I'm a bitch, I'm a lover, I'm a child, I'm a mother; I'm a sinner, I'm a saint. I do not feel ashamed. Meredith Brooks, 'Bitch'.

What do you look like?

Oh look what the cat brought in. Dido, 'Hunter'.

What's your secret?

Gravity's pulling me, but Heaven is calling me. Delirious, 'Gravity'.

What do you want to be?

I want to be a tree that's bearing fruit... Doug Horley, 'I want to be a tree'. My Christian Union's least favourite song. You'd never know from the amount we play it!

What can you do?

I can see all the obstacles in my way, Johnny Nash, 'I can see clearly now'

Not forgetting... I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13

What can't you do?

I can't dance, I can't sing. Genesis, 'I can't dance.'

What is love?

Love is a good thing. Sheryl Crow

Love patiently accepts all things. It always trusts, always hopes, and always remains strong. St. Paul 1 Corinthians 13:7

What is friendship?

You just call out my name, and you know, wherever I am, I'll come running to see you again. Carole King, 'You've got a Friend'

What are you afraid of?

Save me from myself, I've got a fear of falling. Blue Planet (a local band) - think the song's called simply 'Fear of falling'. Anyway, I literally do have a fear of falling, hate heights.

Are you strong?

You think that I'm strong, you're wrong, you're wrong. Robbie Williams, 'Strong'.

What would you do with a million dollars?

I'll buy you a diamond ring my friend if it makes you feel alright, I'll get you anything my friend if it makes you feel alright, 'cause I don't care too much for money, money can't buy me love. The Beatles, 'Can't buy me love'.

What would you tell the one who loves you?

If you need to crash, then crash and burn, you're not alone. Savage Garden, 'Crash and burn'. (Nicky's probably going to be annoyed if she does this!)

What do you want to do?

I just want to love, I just want to sing to the One above who has touched this thirsty soul. Tim Hughes, 'I will always love'.

Where do you want to be?

I wanna be out of my depth in Your love, feeling Your arms so strong around me. Doug Horley & Noel Richards - 'Out of my depth'

Who do you love?

Everything I do, I do it for you. Bryan Adams.

What do you want?

Sanctify, I want to be set apart, right to the very heart, prophesy to the four winds and breathe life to this very place. Delirious, 'Sanctify'

Well that took a long time! Sally's mobile was off when I called her, so I'm going to have to call her tomorrow. Called Charlie - the route for our expedition is completely planned! OK, so I hogged the last two days for myself :-) but I feel better knowing it's done, and I know the others will work hard on map reading, planning etc, especially Charlie as she is doing the food and picking up the equipment. It was probably going to be her who did day 3 anyway, and that wouldn't have been fair.

Had an interesting discussion after dinner today. Mum brought up 'prayer' chain letters, and this led to a discussion about praying for people after death. Clive said that it was only if you were a Catholic - Purgatory, so that led me to say (whilst apologising for its controversial nature) that I thought Purgatory had really only been invented to gain money by indulgences. And then we ended up discussing the supposed infallibility of the Pope, because Clive said that the reason there are other denominations is because they 'didn't accept Papal supremacy' as if this is a bad thing. But that rather struck me as similar to two people arguing over the colour of something. Is it red or green? First let's discover which one's colour blind. At the end of it all, when I said I just could not accept Purgatory, Clive said, 'So either you're completely holy or you're not ever going to Heaven.' Reminds me of this in Steve Mawston's book 'Who do you think you are?'

What is true of him is true of me. Therefore it's not how holy I am that matters, it's the fact that Christ is very holy. If I am in Christ, then that becomes true of me.

So, I'm saying I'm very holy then?

Yes!!!

What's the point of working for forgiveness? What kind of forgiveness requires people to work for it? God's better than that. He got Jesus to die for us, to take all the punishment we deserve for all the crap we've done in our lives. Past, present, future, we're clean if we're following him.

And that just about says it all really.

OK, better go now. Lo, thanks for your e-mail, always nice to feel helpful :-) Sorry I haven't replied yet, but I will, don't worry. Although that lyrical thing took me so long I probably will tomorrow...
