More thoughts on Tuesday
Friday, Sept. 14, 2001 - 14:43

Here I am again.

This link will be kinda helpful to anyone involved in Tuesday's attack - if people are worried about you, you can leave a message to say you're OK, and you can also post requests to hear from people. Drallak, if you're reading this I was going to send you the link but I can't get onto email!!

Actually I listened so much to Radio 2 (in the car!) yesterday that I found out about several links from their website, you can find them all here.

I got a guestbook singing that was a little strange - "Wow, it's a damn shame that there is all this hatred and unfounded accusation flying around." was the main part of it. Was that meant to about me? I'm a bit worried that I've been seeming a little insensitive towards the situation, sorry! I'm actually very afraid that this will turn in to WWIII, hence my panicky reaction to the false Nostradamus prediction that some misguided soul started sending to people. I still believe that this attack was nothing short of evil - how can you call the attempt to murder thousands as anything but? On the other hand, I was talking to Eric yesterday, and he was telling me about a programme he'd watched on the Israeli's treatment of Palestinians, and the American government were supplying them with weapons! There is already an element of revenge involved. I was trying to say in this entry that fighting evil with evil is still evil! The only way to win is by doing good. No one is innocent - the battle between good and evil isn't Americans against Palestinians, or Arabs, or fanatics, but all the good in us against cruelty, callousness, racism, apathy and terrorism, and all the other forms of evil. Hope this makes it a bit clearer.

We had a three minute silence today - a little after eleven as eleven is exactly between break and period 3. Birds were squawking in the distance, but inside it was so very very still. I still feel so very struck by Tuesday's events... I got to know some Americans during Detling and they were such wonderful people. Obviously, they don't represent the whole culture, but as Lo was saying in her diary, Americans have done a lot worth admiring. But I can't let my love for them turn into hate for others. That would be wrong.

I'm still very panicked about WWIII.
