Who holds the future
God only knows
A little knowledge is a dangerous thing
I'll stay innocent I suppose...

But never say never

Never say Never, Blue Planet

Did anything interesting happen yesterday? Hmm... Nope!

Interesting day. Spent the first two periods in the careers library (got out of my library period, stupid idea that is anyway - no one seems to have worked out that you don't actually have to work in a library). Looked at biochemistry, with a little help from Kay, the careers advisor (note lack of last initial - Kay actually likes being called Kay. She's cool.) Found loads of interesting places with varying grades - I think Bath was the highest. Imperial wanted three Bs, and I know I can get three Bs, so it was kind of amusing thinking how I could end up going to a Uni that gets better results than the one Chris'll probably end up going to - Oxford! Just spoke to her and said how funny it would be if I ended up in the second best university in the country and she said indignantly, "That is a matter of debate!" Hee hee hee.

Imperial was the only London one I looked at, and that was because of its excellent reputation. I don't wanna live in London!! :-)

Nottingham looked good, and apparently it's now fourth (after Oxford). Ah, league tables. What wonderful things they are.

Just wondering if Biochemistry is the thing for me. Had loads of advice to take three years of degree (a BSc, a very handsome set of initials, although I'd prefer PhD) and then do a PGCE (a Post-Graduate Course in Education, and get a B.Ed, or something), but maybe not biochemistry. Maybe just chemistry. Urgh. It's so much WORK!!! At least I've started now. A bit late, but I'm working at it at last. Ooh dear, where to go and what to do. It's so stressy.

Diggers R. wrote 'their are' instead of 'there are' today. Even English teachers make grammatical mistakes.

Did not want to go to GB tonight - we were doing Duke of Edinburgh at Abigail's house and I have loads of work to do. None of which I particularly felt like doing. We watched videos of our tea for the elderly ("Adam Sheepdip, sir." "It's madam, Adam." "No, mister Adam. Mr. Adam Sheepdip.") and Fiona's fundraising when the girls were so young!!! I thought how lucky they all were to have such a memory. They were all ten and eleven at that time, and I only joined the Girls' Brigade when I was nearing twelve. It was more fun than I thought it would be. I'm glad I went, even though I reminded myself of my rather pathetic opting out of medicine when I brought it up, and Charlie said, "Oh but you were really going for that!" And I wondered how many more things I'd be really going for until I found where I was heading.

We do not know what the future holds, but we know who holds the future.

My life seems a bit meaningless at the moment. School is so... bland. Narrow, I suppose. All we ever do is talk about music and flirt, and wander around in our safe little world.

I'm gonna do something that matters.
