'Oh, What a lovely God!' - Duck
Friday, Nov. 02, 2001 - 15:04 Sometimes God rocks so incredibly much in such surprising ways! I am going to see Oh, What a lovely war!!!!! Tonight! Y'see, Mrs. Smith put a note in the registers saying that anyone doing English who had not got tickets should go see her this afternoon. As I had a free, I went to find her (whilst praying alternately "Please God!!" and "If you don't want me to, I'll be fine, your choice" - she said that even though they had sold out, I could go and if there were no seats I might have to stand at the back. No matter. Mum texted to say that her car wasn't working and after D of E I tonight, could Chris's parents' drop me back at Grandad's (which is on their way back , and very near school) to Clive could pick me up. I usually go to Grandad's anyway to have dinner before we meet up anyway, so dinner before the show was OK, and now I assumed this to mean that Clive would pick me up later - naturally, the play would end a little later that we do at church, so not only would he be willing to pick me up later, he would have to! Then Mum called my mobile (I'm in the IT room, my phone was thankfully silent, and no one noticed my conversation, phew) and Grandad's at my house, meaning that he could pick up my money to get in (I was going to ask him if I could borrow some, although I felt a little uncomfortable about it). Wow. Just this morning I was feeling a bit depressed and annoyed that I couldn't see my friends performing, especially when Ms Jardin went on about how superb it was. But it's all come out perfectly... like a little surprise present God was preparing for the last minute. Not as a reward or anything... just a cute 'I love you' gift from a Dad to his girl.
