A Curious Girl: Recent happenings

My blood test went OK. I don't have the results yet. Thanks to the nurse being rather brutal with the needle, meaning that I get to show it to hundreds of people during the show! Yes, the show! Gilbert and Sullivan have delivered, we are performing, first night is tomorrow... (I am a chorus member in case you've forgotten). I'm looking forward to it.

I was sick over the weekend, which wasn't nice, especially as Matthew had to work (poor him) and I spent Valentine's day sloping around the house. I did watch A Knight's Tale though - I really like that film.

I don't like Valentine's day. I like getting and giving flowers and cards, I like hugging and kissing but I don't like Valentine's day. It's annoyingly forced, plus that's not what St. Valentine really cared about anyway. In truth, this saint's day is just a Pagan festival that's been Christianised. Not to mention that it's rubbish if you're single.

I talked to the woman I mentioned last entry. She seemed nice. I'm having real trouble working out what I believe at the moment though. As the Telegraph said the other day (I bought a newspaper! A miracle!) "you can't censor holy writings - you have to wrestle with them, as Jacob wrestled with the angel" (paraphrased, slightly). My thoughts exactly.

Incidentally, is the French outlawing of religious symbols in schools really annoying anyone else? It's not like French children have school uniforms - would a girl be allowed to wear a bandanna but not a headscarf? Would I be able to wear unicorn earrings but not my cross pendant? It's just silly.
