A recipe, as yet unnamed
Thursday, Jun. 19, 2003 - 17:38 This is a really good recipe, discovered entirely by accident (I had an 'I am hungry, I'll cook whatever I've got left in the fridge' moment). You will need to borrow/steal/salvage/beg/buy (yes, buy, that thing that involves money)... Some pasta. Penne or fusilli or eliche or something like that (That's quills or twists, in English). Pesto (that green pasta sauce stuff. You can buy it in jars or if you are extremely rich, you can actually buy it fresh). Cheese (cheddar is probably a good bet) Bacon - two rashers thereof. If you are a veggie, maybe fry some mushrooms or something... One Tomato (Ripened on the vine is best, but let's face it, most of us end up with an anaemic fruit that could be used as a tennis ball...) Black Pepper (and salt, if you want. Whatever :) ) Boil some water in a saucepan on the hob. Put in your pasta. Put the bacon under the grill. Grate the cheese and chop the tomato into little bits (not too little... err on the side of bigness). When the bacon is grilled, chop that into little bits too. When the pasta is soft and edible, drain the water from the saucepan, and stir in a spoonful of pesto. Add more if you want. Pesto is looovely. Stir thoroughly until the pasta is a uniform shade. Now carefully sprinkle the cheese in and stir that in too. Best to do this over a warm (but not hot) hob to make sure it melts. Now stir in the tomato and bacon. Now stick the mix from the saucepan in a plate and leave the pan in the sink because the damn thing's covered in melted cheese (you can always scrape the pan clean, don't let good cheese go to waste...). Now sprinkle on black pepper and eat. I'm not entirely sure what to name this dish that I accidentally discovered yesterday (and then remade today because it was fab). Ideas, anyone? I can't believe Order of the Phoenix comes out on Saturday! It's scary how much I'm looking forward to it :) Laura's going to borrow my copy. Depending on how much revision I've done, I might have to ask her to confiscate it (But I might never get it back... *grin*) Thank you Nicky for signing the guestbook :) It's not rambling nonsense! My general view is that it's best to be responsible and take care of your body, which is why I fully deserved the hangover I had on Monday morning... Jesus turned water into wine, so I don't think he was against having some alcohol now and again. The thing is... well, this is what I really don't want to talk about, but I figured since the question of my being a hypocrite came up I might as well mention it. But I'm struggling in my faith. Much more than doing stupid things on Sunday nights and having to do a presentation whilst hungover. Grr. Stuff like this and this are still bothering me. That and I haven't a clue what to believe... By the way, if you have any ideas for name for the recipe, sign the guestbook.
