Some banal banter :D reports and the like
Thursday, Feb. 28, 2002 - 18:06 Hmm, interesting week. Actually, not really. What did I do? Um... I discovered that if you write journal entries on YouThink with provoking title you get lots of response. Not all of it is nice, though, and people didn't recognise me being silly. Y'see, I wrote that I wished the whole world were gay. Of course I don't want that, I even confounded my own logic in the reasons for my argument. (It was so that men and women get on better, because there'd be less competition and resentment, only that would probably be transposed onto other people of the same gender, as opposed to opposite gender, therefore creating another problem). People seemed to think I was silly enough to have not noticed that it would lead to no reproduction, at least not in the traditional way. Speaking of which, there's a gay man at work who is so adorable. Typical :) On Tuesday I went to my induction for work, and learned hundreds of useless facts about the company. It was fun, though, it's nice to just talk to colleagues in normal terms instead of 'Could you clean that table for me whilst I take these plates?' Before it started, I saw Gentian (who works in the kitchen) and someone else sitting at a table, so I went up and started talking to them. Hey, wait just a minute, this is nervous shy and retiring Helen we're talking here! It's definitely getting better, is all I can say. Wednesday was a day off school, so I spent most of it at home not doing very much at all, and in the evening went to Faith and Light, which was fun as always :D I also took my report home on Tuesday. Very interesting reading! Mr. E remarked about late homework (in a footnote!) and so I got a lecture about that, although it was well-deserved I suppose. I spent ages trying to decipher one word Mr. B, my form tutor and Biology teach had written. Turns out it was 'critical'. (Feel free not to read this if you like, I'd just like a record of my favourite bits ;-) ) Mr. B. (form tutor's comment) In class, she shows her very dry sense of humour (which makes me think of very dry Martini, for some reason. My humour's a distilled spirit which is a bit of an acquired taste. Probably true, but he must have forgotten the Minnie Mouse Ears.) Ms. Jardin, deputy head of sixth form - ...her sunny demeanour has been a pleasure to experience. She will be successful and I wish her well. (I love you too, Ms Jardin! :) I dug out all my Year Nine English work with her, there's an autobiographical piece which might interest people because it's painfully honest. I mean, her comment was 'Thank you for sharing this with me'... but it'll probably remain in my files for a bit. Shows quite a lot of that dry sense of humour actually) Mr. E. (Chemistry) - Although she often appears hesitant in class and some of her written homeworks can be disappointing, Helen has a good understanding of the basic principles. She is able to achieve high marks in tests and examinations. She works with cheerful enthusiasm and shows a genuine interest in many areas of the course. ...(work stuff...)... *and to attempt to do all work set as well as she can, handing it in for marking on time. (How did he manage to sum me up perfectly? Quite disturbing! Dr. C. didn't write a comment.) Diggers (English) - Helen continues to make excellent progress. She is a lively and enthusiastic member of the class, always ready to contribute to discussions and give her view (even when he asked someone else...). Helen writes fluently and with perception... Good-humoured and reliable, she is on course to do well in the summer. (I almost expected a proposal on the end on that one.) Dr. A (also English) - She doesn't always take me seriously, which is good. Teachers need a sceptical audience! (Mum liked that comment. I think he was referring to my impression of a Chathamite shaped by capitalist society) Biology was more of the same. They both used the word 'enthusiastic'. In fact, all of my subject teachers used that word. It's kinda nice to be appreciated, even if it is in a teacher's pet sort of way :) OK, I'm probably the only one who finds this even remotely interesting, so onto the next entry (if this is on the index page as you are reading, I'm writing the entry right now) Random word for today: << last entry ... next entry >> Interesting doughnuts - Sunday, Feb. 05, 2006 Blogging, why? - Friday, Feb. 03, 2006 Dreams, climate change - Friday, Feb. 03, 2006 In the shadows - Sunday, Jan. 29, 2006 |
