Ring surfing. Yep, a fairly pointless entry. I'm winding down.
2001-06-06 - 21:02

My (ahem) quiet time was good (they aren't quiet, they're very LOUD!). I read some cool stuff in the Bible. Couln't decide what to read so I went for my Gideon Bible and selected today's reading. And just before it there was a bit that said "God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise, and he chose weak things to shame the strong." (1 Corinthians 1:27) So even though I'm an utter idiot God can use me. He's amazing! And now you can read my commentary on diaryrings. There's no point to it, I just found it kind of amusing.

Why do people join diaryrings and then put the codes where no one can find them, or just not put the codes up at all?

What's the point of joining a diaryring for individuals? I can only see the crowds in Life of Brian yelling, "Yes! We're all individuals!"

What's the point of the Diaryland diaryring? Who'd want to search it? We're all in Diaryland.

There's a suicide ring. It has 80 people in it. Why, oh why?

Ooh, there's an atheists ring. Maybe it's because I'm a Christian, but I wouldn't particularly want to search that ring. What do atheists who join rings do with their time? Do they not bother talking about God at all or do they rant about how they think he doesn't exist? It's not like they get together to have a big non-worship session. There are time when I have more respect for the kind of atheist who doesn't call him/herself that because they don't care. Although I think it's sad that they don't care, 'cause they're missing out on so much! But at least they don't boast about it. It disheartens me when I hear people saying bad stuff about my best friend, especially if they don't believe his Father exists. I don't bitch about leaders of other faiths.

Why do some people give their diaryrings really bizarre names that don't appear to pertain to anything? What's that meant to be about? Like evil-v-good. Someone please explain that one to me.

Yay! A ring for Babylon 5 fans! Don't watch it much, but it's still good. A bit worrying sometimes, but always funky. Actually, it was one of my big obsessions. Probably a blessing that it got put on at such ridiculous times. I got out of it. Thankfully!! Now I only watch it occasionally on Sci-fi.

Wait! There's a ring for girls 5'4" and under!! I can't believe that! What is it saying? Why?? Actually, I think I'm just short enough to get into that ring.

What interests me is the diaryrings with names that turn out to be about something completely different to what you'd expected - like 'ipreferfoxes'. I thought that was anti-fox-hunting, or just plain pro-foxes, or maybe an anti-cute-bunny-rabbit type thing. Nope, it's for X Philes.

There's a lazypenpals ring. OK, so I am not the best letter writer, but I'm not going to flaunt it in a ring.

And then of course, for those people for whom the feminist ring was not even considered. Misogynists. Now I know to avoid those diaries. And other misogynists out there, please join that ring. I don't want to read you. But then, you probably wouldn't be reading my diary, seeing as there are only three members, and I'm a girl who doesn't believe in 'sex first' and never shuts her mouth. I pity you, misogynists. You're so blind.

And the gold members ring. I've no idea why people would specifically search for gold members. Mad.

Excellent, one for people who love diaryrings. Now that's what you call nutty.

And there's one for girls who love Sci-fi. I'm a girl, I love sci-fi, but personally I like my clubs to be mixed unless there's a nearby boy club we can go and heckle. It's called the Boys' Brigade.

OK, I've finished ring surfing now. What a fun experience! Now I'm off for a bath.
