Mainly stuff about Church
2001-02-25 - 17:45 Went to Church this morning as the parents were off to Margaret’s, who is Clive’s sister (by adoption, she’s actually his cousin), my aunt (by adoption, she would just be my step-aunt, if such a thing exists). It was quite good, David doing his usual “three emphases (or emphasises) on this topic” type sermon, but at least it was obvious. He was doing God’s Kingdom, so he divided the sermon up into Your Kingdom Come (why it has to be God’s Kingdom, not any other), Your Kingdom Come (what a kingdom is and what that involves) and Your Kingdom Come (having implications to the present and the future). It was pretty cool. Anne Newnham took Communion and read out a poem. It rhymed, but other than that I have nothing bad to say about it. (Sorry, that little sentence was for Christina’s benefit :-)) Mum and Clive had not arrived by the end of the service, so I went off to get prayer for direction. I am feeling a little confused about what I should be doing. Two ladies prayed for me, Mavis was one of them, who said she knew who I was and when I told her my name she looked enlightened. I wonder how she knew me? Maybe she was at my baptism, and probably she saw other things I’ve done in Church parade. When I came out, Amy East was making a snowball with the remaining snow from last night and she invited me up the steps to make one too. I think she’s about eight now but I really have no idea. So I went up and we ended up having a snowball fight, Amy and me against two boys I recognise from when I helped out in Sunday school. Actually, just mostly me, Amy was merely standing by and giggling… It was funny. There wasn’t enough snow for decent sized snowballs, which was probably a good thing. There will be no Afterchurch for the next three weeks, at Joan and Arthur’s at least. I wonder why? It is probably something to do with Jim finding the traffic cone on his car; that’s why it isn’t on today, unless they’re going to go to Stuart’s. Three weeks, though? That seems like a bit of an overreaction to something that the youth group might not have even had a part in. (Sorry Erin’s Dad, I just finished a sentence with a preposition…) Ooh, this is a very church-y entry. I can’t think of much else to say about it though. I haven’t done very much for my practise Psychology coursework. Why isn’t that word spelt sykologi? (I suppose an Esperantist would spell it sajkologxi. Except the emphasis would be in the wrong place.) I didn’t have a driving lesson yesterday because the car was in the garage being repaired. Read the Starvin’ Marvins’ 30 hr Famine Diary. It is funny, and interesting seeing as there are about five girls writing it, so when I start reading an entry I try and guess which one it is. Hmm, I think that’s everything. Seeyas later, Helen.
