*sigh*
Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2004 - 16:45 Well, tomorrow is a day of reckoning for more than one thing. Firstly, it's the day of my blood test so that the doctors can analyse my hormone levels etc. Not looking forward to that. Secondly, I met a woman at a Christian Union talk on Monday and she cajoled me into confessing my heterodox and messy beliefs to her. So we're meeting tomorrow to finish the conversation and I can find out if she's genuinely interested or just thinks I'm a backslider :) Thirdly... I have an essay to finish. I hate essays. The one good thing about this one is that I found my haiku I wrote when I was in the library last. This machine is slow I've been feeling rather... disgruntled recently. I'm a bit fed up with everything and wish it would go away. Lots of little ambient stressors like me not being able to find a lecture this morning and a mysterious schedule change to our project and never seeming to have enough sleep even when I had twelve hours the day before. Last night was 'Come as you aren't' night for Dougsoc. I got a Georgian type dress and wig from a fancy dress shop and strutted about in it for the night :) The costumes people wore were really great - Keith makes an interesting Goth, Sian is a cool pirate, Gary was a judge, Katherine was a cat, Jenny (i've not mentioned her) was Hitler's ghost, but the real piece de la resistance had to be the three guys who came as the Spanish Inquisition, with a genuine rack (for dishes) and cushion. A cherished remark from the night - "Don't attack the rack!" (say it out loud, and imagine chanting it with a few other hundreds of thousands of people). Incidentally, did you know that the Wrath of Kahn was the eleventh Star Trek film? Today's word means fear of long words. It's apparently actually used as the medical term. If you're suffering from it, these guys may help you, or else read this poem.
