A call to the emergency services, paint, pants, year 13s
2001-05-22 - 21:45 Sunday was nice - Nicky and Jonathan came over and we had a barbecue. Jonathan brought the DOA Cyanide, which I'm sure would have been nice with the entire contents of a fire extinguisher. :-) It practically burnt my tongue off... And then, back to school. Notes, notes, notes is all we're really doing at the moment. Notes on rates of reaction. Notes on Antony and Cleopatra. Notes on Coping Mechanisms. I had a free yesterday, during most of which I felt guilty because I remembered Mrs. Smith's speech at the beginning of the year going on about how we should only take short breaks during frees and we must work most of the time. Still, instead I wrote poetry and read some of this novel that's in the display thingummy. Smiling for Strangers. It is good so far but I wish it would get out of the war and into the good stuff :-) It's about a Yugoslavian girl. I think, anyway, I wasn't paying much attention to specifics so she could be from anywhere really. After school I stuck around with Abi because we were going to a Millennium Volunteers meeting. She is doing the music, I went with the organisational bunch in the end, for the MV launch on June 7th. The only thing interesting that happened was that we saw a man asleep outside a house on our way there, just slumped on the gound in front of a closed door - not on a chair or anything. Abi tried to wake him but he muttered incoherently and his eyes stayed locked shut. Abi called an ambulance because she said she'd expect someone to do that for her. I guess I was kind of worried that they'd come with sirens screaming, but there were only a couple of noises and the guys who got out didn't look like they expected a bloody casualty, and told Abi it was best to be safe when she explained. So I'm feeling happier about that, and whilst I was really just an imbecilic bystander, I'll know what to do next time. Thank you Abi :-) And Ricci called and read me good poetry. We're going to have a mutual crap-sharing day some time in the future when we read each other's stuff :-) And now, today. Tuesday. We looked at pollen grains, and that was not very informative. All I really know now is that bluebell pollen looks like coffee beans and laburnam (sp?) is poisonous. Mr. G (covering) advised us not to chew it, which was nice of him because Mr. B undoubtedly would have been tempted to allow us to discover that for ourselves... :: snigger :: The flowers are making me homesick for countryside walks... last time I went, Saz and I got seriously lost so Mum isn't so keen on them anymore. Sara, Abi, Martin (upper sixth) and I spent lunch in the park, and ended up being late back. Never mind. Oh, and a bunch of Howard yobs (probably - uncertain, though, but I don't think it's anyone in our school) painted blue and brown paint all over Dr. A II's windows, and wrote 'Moy' (don't ask) and S.HA I walked back from Chatham today. Nice sunny weather, a chance to have a praise and to comtemplate the story I'm working on (I'm giving the Unfinished Novel a break). The Year 13s also left on study leave today. I said goodbye to David. We hugged and he said I'd been a good friend. That would have been all the more touching if he'd actually given me the chance to be one. But he's a nice guy and I hope he does well. End of Story! (You wish... :-) Read this great story on ABC's older diary today. Today, (as a contrast to Friday, I suppose) I was hit with my weaknesses in prayer. I am not very organised and I tend to put it off. I'm glad God is patient with me. I'm a very easily distracted person, and that's something I'm going to have to work on. Hmm, that's all for now.
