I spent one day in school this week.

Oh well. I also read Nick Hornby 'About a boy' and a Horrible History - Rowdy Revolutions. I'd recommend the Horrible History anytime (although as usual it contains some rather painful descriptions!!) but I'm not sure about the Nick Hornby book - borrowed it from Grandma yesterday. I actually wanted to read The Canterbury Tales which I borrowed from her a long time ago, and only took back yesterday, but decided not to, as it would beat the point of taking it back. I can always find them online anyway. 'About a boy' is a strange tale about a weird twelve year old boy and his hippy depressed divorced mother, and a layabout 36 year old man who doesn't have to work on account of his father writing a Christmas song in 1938 which continues to bring him income. I liked it, but by the end it had gradually began to lose my interest. It's quite funny, started out refreshingly shallow and then at the end started going all 'meaning of life' on me. I have no problem with that except that I didn't agree with the philosophy and would have rather it had stuck with being shallow. I had a similar (but worse) problem with 'The Amber Spyglass'. Nice story, crap philosophy. In my opinion, anyway, I know there are lots of people who've enjoyed that book, it's just that I wasn't really one of them. If you ever read it (it's the third in a trilogy!) you'll see why I don't like it.

I'm feeling tired, a little bored, unmotivated... yawn. Feeling useless and silly. Played some Discworld II today on the computer... haven't in ages. My old save game had disappeared and thus I started from the beginning. Think I'm looking for a washboard, I'm completely stumped. Better than before when I was wandering around the desert looking for sand. Realised there are some connections between Rincewind and Angelique, mainly that they're both usually moaning at the general setup of reality.

I will have something more interesting to talk about soon, I promise. In the meantime, I must post my poet-collab entry for this month...
