An excellent service and vodka jelly
2001-06-11 - 18:25

Erm, well, I'm not feeling too great. Not that good at all, really, and I'm not even sure why.

Anyway, yesterday (as promised).

Stephen's friend Lucy came over and she was cool. We have a similar sense of humour so we got on pretty well. :-) Stephen went off to get his motorbike after lunch (he bought Gavan's) and I went to a Baptist Church near where Nicky lives. It's an ickle church so they all recognised the weird one :-). The minister introduced himself twice. That's got to be worse than Father Paul, who asked my name twice in two separate conversations. He didn't seem to even remember seeing me!! But later on he referred to Jean, a lady who went to that church when she was alive, and I'd mentioned her in the earlier conversation, so maybe he was just a strange person... like me... The songs weren't really my thing, but I tried to sing with a bit of enthusiasm anyway. It was OK. And the preacher was a man who evangelises to Chinese students and scholars - how interesting! And his sermon, as I've already said, was just plain brilliant. It was on 1 Corinthians 2:1-5 and - well - there were lots of good things about it. It was very clear, full of examples of Chinese christians he'd known, and it was so enthusiastic and full of love. I was inspired.

After that, I went up to see Nicky before going home - she was there with Jonathan, doing history revision. Later, Gavan made some comment about how she probably wasn't doing history revision but drinking, or something along those lines (I told him about the vodka jelly she gave me), but I told her that she was, although I didn't mention Jonathan was there, hence she wouldn't just be sitting there getting merrily drunk. I didn't want to say anything hurtful so mentioning Jonathan probably wouldn't have been tactful. A bit of an out-of-order remark, but what can you say? Maybe he still has hurt feelings towards her. But I still think you're lovely, Nic :-)

Anyway, enough of that! She offered me a drink and some jelly (that's jello, I think, to Americans). I was a bit suspicious because I saw a look from her reminiscent of the banana muffin incident (don't ask - suffice it to say, I hate bananas) and they eventually told me it was vodka jelly (blackberry and raspberry jelly with a pint of vodka added with the water). She put whipped cream on and it was veeeery nice. She didn't give me very much to stop me getting drunk on it or something. And she also gave me loads to take home. Even better considering you can really only eat it in small doses. Although she also gave me a spoon so I could eat it on the way home... Hmm! So I accused her of corrupting me.

Anyway, we had a nice little chat and then I walked home... saw two bikes outside and realised that Gavan must be there. He was. We talked a bit and he ate cheese sandwiches, and then Stephen left to ride around and Gavan took Lucy home.

Ah, the joy of motorbikes.

And I wrote down my snail song.

Psychology today went OK.
